[Supras] A curiosity

I'm contemplating getting a diversity antenna adapter and bridging both antenna's into one. Hopefully this will return the quality reception I remember prior to replacing the radio's head unit. Anyone have experience with this type of arrangement?

That's part of the dual diversity(?) antennae on the mk3's radio system.
There are two antennae inputs on the back of the OEM radio, for both the
powered lead and the back glass pieces. I guess it works fairly well, I
never had very good reception once I disconnected the rear one long ago.

Well, finally it is both above 55 degrees and a day I have off. So, I
figured it would be a good day to try gluing a rear defogger tab back
on, with the magic goop. While laying upside down holding the tab in
place to try, I was looking at the grid work on the window. It is
apparent that there are two things going on there. The lower portion of
the window has a different type of grid that really is not much of a
circuit, as some places are actually a closed rectangle. It seems
electrically connected by only one small wire, as compared to the two
larger ones for the defogger. What'in tarnation is that part fer,
anyway? Some kind of antenna?
