The car was only valued at $500?...... you said twice the value.

The police don't do the inspection anymore. I went through this last
fall with a motorcycle. Too many people were downloading the form off
the SoS web site and filling it out themselves. Now the SoS does a vin
search. I submitted a written statement of how I got the bike, and
since the bike wasn't stolen, they issued me a title. I was told that
as long as "someone" gave the bike to me, it was okay. If I would have
found it on the side of the road, it would have to be considered
abandoned and it would then have to be turned over to the state, to
auction. I wish I could remember what the form I filled out with was
called....... I had to talk to the right person at the right SoS to get
through this. A person at a smaller SoS office, basically told me that
there was no way I could get a title, and that the bike could only be
considered abandoned, which wasn't true. I suppose that was partially
my fault, since I was the first to use the word abandoned, which
unfortunetly carried specific legal meaning to the State of Michigan,
that I didn't want. I don't know if that'll help with the whole getting
a Supra to the US from Canada, Though.

I wonder if Canadian vins are any different than US Vins.
