[Supras] Hubcentrics??

I'm not sure that they are using hubcentrics but those wheels have a big
budget behind them and the spindles are probably checked over/replaced
each day (think how quickly they're torquing things and 3900 lb. makes
brakes glow a lot)Their wheels may be bored appropriately to begin with
like OEM wheels, not using an adaptor like aftermarket wheels.

My reason for questioning is that it would have to add additional
strength, especially in racing apps where heat and forces can be much
higher. I agree the 60 deg. tapers would be stronger than some other
styles but if there's a 1/4-3/16" gap between the hub and bore of the
wheel, wouldn't it be much stronger to place a support their as well?

Ok, I'll bite...

How much force does it take to shear 5 studs off?

I assume it is possible but I have never seen it happen...

I find it hard to believe that Nascar is using hub centric rims, maybe
they are?

But I am sure someone has left the pits with 4 lugs and you don't see
rims coming off every day.

"friction will transfer the load to the hubs."
---

Within WHAT reasonable limit?

That friction can be overcome..it is not a reliable engineering tool in
such critical operation.

Studs suck for sheer forces.
