[Supras] 89 Supra lost power on highway, help!

Hi Jeff, Jim, Bernie, list, 

I appreciated your discussion on the Cam journals very much, it certainly helps out. 

Looks like the timing belt jumped and when they opened it up saw the belt just flopping around in there. 

Any idea why this belt skipped? What should I have them check out when they spend some more time on it tomorrow as I don't want it to happen again.

Every single one of our heads has "worn out" journals.

The specs are only to be believed on NEW heads.  The bearings are not
replaceable, and baaaarely serviceable.   Why Toyota lists specs at
all, I do not know.


The journals are either brand new and 'in spec', or "worn out", or
"absolutely destroyed".


Very few are absolutely destroyed, 99.9% of us are worn out, none of
us are new.   :)


using the list gives you 20yrs of know-how...can save lots of $.
