Today, I took the car out for a spin after being in hibernation over the last 3+months, started up fine, drove around city for 10minutes before entering interstate. Drove about 5 miles at 65mph when cars check engine light came on and car lost power. Electric was still operational, but engine died. Had to coast to the shoulder.
Pulled to side, attempted to turn over, which it wont. Makes a loud hi-pitched sound and wont engage. Sounds like the noise is possibly coming from the front cam/timing cover. Did the timing belt go?
Last fall I had the cam journals resurfaced, but aside from that, car has ran well.
Had her towed to my local import repair shop, so hopefully I will hear something from him tomorrow, but I wanted to ask my fellow Supra owners what you think it might be, or what I should have my mechs check tomorrow.
Thanks in advance for any/all responses, this crap always happens RIGHT after you wash it/pop the targa off and it's a gorgeous day out. : (
