He's probably thinking it could be the bearing (bushing) in the tailshaft
housing. It could be worn, but since it didn't change it should not be
causing the new problem. Another possibility is a broken or worn (mushy)
rear transmission mount that is allowing the back end of the trans to wobble
at certain speeds, or a worn or incorrectly positioned center bearing hanger
for the driveshaft (was the hanger replaced with the driveshaft?).
