I did that as well. I actually put a tiny discreet bead around the whole
surface where the seal mates to the timing cover. Another thing I consider
mandatory is the use of OEM Friedenburg-NOK seals (read: Toyota dealer).
But all this will be for nothing if you don't have NCP. If you are not
evacuating the crankcase pressure, nothing you do will prevent oil from
pushing past the seals.
The 7M just WILL NOT leak if you have proper negative crankcase pressure.
COMPLETELY cleaning out the TB and pipes is a miserable long job, but it
ensures no leaks.
