Bernie:

THATS what rotor mass does for you.

The glow is the surface energy, it dissipates INTO the mass of the rotor.

DO not drill, less mass = higher temps.    Period.   You want as much
mass as possible.

Racers also dont turn rotors, thinner = hotter, we toss em...or use
them as shop weights.



..its not the sun.  Thats rotor heat.   The pad face temps are close
to 1600d in that photo, and maybe down to 1000-1100 on the rotor
surface on the entry side of the caliper as well.
