[Supras] Off topic question

I know this is off topic but if anyone cares to answer I'd appreciate it.

Just bought my daughter a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - V6 - 150K miles. The AC doesn't work and I'm told by the owners' repair shop that if you charge it it will run but eventually (don't know how long) it will lose it's charge. They say they suspect a leak at the evaporator under the dash. Question is - how hard is it to change an evaporator and what special tools would I need. And if I choose to live with a slow leak down what equipment do I need to properly charge it?

I'm reasonably good with tools - have done the front rack, shocks, PS pump, clutch master and slave cyl's and front calipers, rotors and pads on my 91 turbo.

Any advice appreciated.

JP
