I have done this job without disconnecting anything at and only tool I need is a?channel lock pliers.? I have a 91 turbo with a HKS?down pipe and a test pipe so the CAT is not in my way.?
1. Obviously you need to jack up the car from the front.?
2. Climb under the car from the passenger side.
3. Enter?the channel lock from the rear of the car with your right hand and break it loose.
4. Use your left fingers to hold the screw point from moving when your are repositioning the channel lock to unscrew again.
5.?After?it is loose enough, unscrew with your fingers.

I have done this twice and works for me.? Not the easiest but a lot easier then taking everything apart.?

If you have a CAT you may need to remove it first.? The gaskets might be okay to reuse but I would get new ones.?

Hope this helps.

Brandon

P.S.
Grease the Key points before installing.

The problem is the short cable that goes on the transmission.
It is broke. It was hard getting it disconnected.
I have a 3'' down pipe and that made it harder to
get to. I got a new cable ordered from toyota.
Would it be hard to remove the rear transmission
support to make more room. Will the trans be supported
enough while I do this. ( a few minutes) I don't want to
remove the downpipe, because I have the car jacked
up off the ground and I don't want to have to get new gaskets.
         Thanks for any suggestions.

When the temp is very cold my speedometer will make a loud violent

about 30

It done it this morning and it did not stop untill I got to where I was going.
(5 min.drive)
And later in the day when I drove it again the speedometer did not work at
all.
Has anybody seen this happen before? Is it the meter or the cable?
My 89 turbo has over 240000 miles on it. I noticed that the cruise control
does
not work without the speedometer working. Any suggestion or tips would be
appreciated.
I probably could find another meter but I was hoping to see 300000 on this
one someday.
My Supra had about 150000 on it when I got it.
