Before you drop 8k into a basic race car project lookup you local open  
track organizations such as www.nasaproracing.com and put a year or so  
into the art of racing.


8k =

3500 for a proper cage
1500 in reliable basic suspension, up to 4k for a full coilover race kit
500 in brake pads alone
Tires at 1k a set. Start with 2 or 3.

Etc


Got brakes?
