I just don't understand why most of us pay almost $10K in municipal taxes for too many school districts, and political appointees who live the good life on our backs. Why should police get 80% retirement money based upon he last year or two they work and then take overtime during those years to earn (rob) the public by taking more in retirement than when working? I hate cops anyway, the way they hide on Rt. 80 to catch those going 10 MPH over the limit during light traffic conditions. IF the state cops were up to the task they would be chasing down drug dealers in Paterson or Newark. They are supposedly the elite of the elite. So where are their gonads? But instead they sip coffee and wait behind bushes for someone who DURING RUSH HOUR they would not touch for fear of causing an accident or backing up traffic. We had one instance on the George Washington bridge last year where the Jersey cops closed off the lower level, funneled everyone down to one lane to check credentials! AK-47? Yeah, I talk about it sometimes, but I don't really think I'll do that. Would rather build a high power infrared laser in my van and burn holes in their tires, but the time, expense and complexity to too great. BUT if you play their game and shell out close to $1000 in the name of their retirement fund (?) for an honorary badge and PBA card, most times you get off without a summons. A good friend I used to work with in a former career (chemical process engineering and construction) was a process engineer, went back to NYU for his law degree and set up a practice. Although a generalist he specializes in product liability (I've done expert witness work for him). I hear stories about the way cops lie, again and again, especially in traffic court. I had one guy who worked for me who got caught in a trap like that (details furnished upon request). 'Nuff said. Now where is that 12 gauge shotgun I had.... Bernie

Sorry about the late post, but I had to chime in here since I just got an e-mail about this house bill,
Congratulations, you meet the criteria for Homegrown terrorist according to the newly passed House Resolution 1955, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007!
(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term 'homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

We had/have laws to deal with any real domestic threat before this resolution. All this does is puts it under Homeland Security, so the government can do away with habius corpus if they want.
Of course, I'm being a little paranoid...but I'd hate to see you disappeared to Guantanamo. (kidding) Up next, definition of terrorist expanded to include those who "don't buy 'mercan." Lousy import lovers.
Seriously, I share your frustration, though most of my frustration is with the feds, (and resolutions like this).
