[Supras] >400 HP with stock IC

Hi Bernie,
No pressure drop numbers, but I was running 2.5" hard pipes uppers and the
lower off the turbo was 2 1/4 crush bend and I couldn't hold more then 17
PSI to redline as either the IC couldn't flow or the one crushed IC pipe was
too restrictive.
It did hold about 430 WHP till redline though at 17PSI.
I was running a 60 trim with a clipped p wheel (found out after) I HIGHLY do
not recommend that turbo.. Too laggy and not enough performance... Spool was
early but didn't actually hit the threshold until about 4300 RPM.
IMO if you are trying to keep a street car and want some good power on a 7m
Don't go over a 61MM... The bolt on 61MM is a great turbo I've been able to
squeeze 430 WHP at just 17 PSI and had over 400 ft tq at 4000.
63's and 67's aren't bad but if you are spooling later then 4000 you will
ruin the fun of the car with these turbo's. Take it form me that the most
fun you will have on a 7m car in a stock form is upgraded ct with 57 or 60-1
@ 18-20 PSI with a shot of nos or something on top.
The ONLY turbo upgrade I'd consider (personally on a 7m) without a bump in
the RPM is a 61.
You should look in to a FPR and add some more boost if you run lean.

Eric:
This is a bit of an academic question since I already replaced the
stock IC, but do you know what the pressure drop had been after you had
installed the hard pipes? I used mandrel bent pipes, but have several
"fish mouth" welded bends in straight pipe, 2-1/4", less than 45
degrees. I'm beginning to investigate alternatives for the 57 trim CT26
in case I need to replace it at some point. Can you tell me anything
about fitup and spoolup of the TO4B? I'm running 15 PSI, 550cc, Lex,
and usual mods that go with it.
Thanks.
