[Supras] New clutch slipping, shifting problem?

Brian, this might not help much, but figured I'd throw my experience out
there. 15 years ago I had my clutch replaced in my '84 Celica by a
local clutch shop. As soon as I got in the car, the clutch engaged as
soon as the pedal came off the floor. This was back when I knew next to
nothing about wrenching on cars, but I know this was not right. They
said they "adjusted it as best they could". To make a long story a
little shorter, I ended up barely able to limp it to a Toyota dealer (I
was out of state at the time). I basically had to start it in gear,
because I could not get the clutch to disengage at all. The dealer said
that other shop installed the disk backwards, and had broken off one of
the flywheel bolts as well. They fixed it, it worked perfectly, clutch
engagement was back to normal. I got the shop to pay for most of the
2nd repair bill, then learned to start fixing stuff myself!

Moral of the story: a clutch disk installed backward causes the
engagement point to be right down on the floor, at least on a stock '84
Celica.

Good luck!
