[Supras] Clunk in Steering Column

I was under the car tonight and sometimes you need someone who has less
knowledge about cars.  

I could hear the noise but even with the stethoscope I was baffled.  The
lower steering column u joint didn't look that good but I couldn't feel any
clunk.

My neighbor who has little experience with cars got underneath the car and
as I was turning the wheel he said it was the boot on the steering thing.

Of course it wasn't the boot but if you put just a little pressure on the
inside tie rod end the noise went away.  The inner joint looks fine and you
can't move it side to side but there must be some play in it.  

Aftermarket is around $70.  Aaron... if your lurking out there... how bad is
oem?

Mine's same as Liam N's........Usually I hear it in sharp turn going in and
out of my driveway ramp.
 
Back when it was under warranty, I took it to Bel-Air Lexus Toyota in Ottawa
Ontario and they fixed it.  I didn't find out what they did to fix the
problem but I'm going to check my receipts this weekend.......have every
