If the bolts are fine but?there is a?little crack in the?gasket, then it will not make as loud of a diesel sound but still be noticeable (valve clicking or valves needing adjustment, exhaust leak).? As it?deteriorate more and more and more of the gasket comes apart, it will diesel like you said.

if the bolts on that are loose enough, you WILL notice it as the plate will rattle louder than a diesel engine on a cold day
