Everthing I had read indicated the exhaust must be 3" for over 300 HP. I
still have the original front exhaust, but am concerned that it is
ineffective because the '91 had a BHG before I got it. NOx was way up at
the limit, about 3000 PPM, so the car just barely passed with the original
engine when I first got it from Texas.
I do have a lead on a gas station here that will pass the car for $$, but
if that does not pan out, I'm on the fence about reinstalling the stock
front part of the exhaust, since others have gotten by without it. If the
NOx is not due to an EGR problem (ugh, more to check), I'll need to get a
replacement main cat if I reinstall the stock front part of the system.
Guess I'll need to make an adapter to go from 3" at the LIPP to 2.5". One
nut on the Lipp is a B***H to get off from the turbo.
