The popular silicone rubber hoses do not appear to offer any size
advantage over the stock parts, although rigid parts made from 2-1/8"
thin wall tubing (welded mandrel bends and straight sections) do.
Moreover I have rigid mounts in the car. The question is one of hose
clamps. The stock band clamps and aftermarket screw/slotted band clamps
seem somewhat fragile at high compression. It does not feel as if the
clamp can get a new hose tight enough that it will not blow off at 15
PSI boost with new stock hoses after a little while. So I reinsalled
the two hoses and the cast aluminum 45 degree ell from the intercooler
to the turbo with formerly used hoses. At least they are indetented
enough at the hole clamp location that they will hold for sometime,
particularly at the turbo outlet. Has any one else had the same expeience?
