[Supras] Gas door latch

The gas door release on My '91 failed, leaving me little alternative but 
to force the door open.  That broke the plastic tip off what must be the 
end of the release cable.  Has anyone been through this before, 
regarding cable routing or which end usually breaks and the best way to 
get to it?  Although the cable and latch are in the parts fiche, there 
is no illustration there, in the service manual or in the collision 
repair manual.
