[Supras] Anyone have any issues with the Exide Sub

Gentlemen,
I have tested the Alternator again and it passed the testing. I installed a
new Optima Battery and the results were similar.
When I tested the voltage from the alternator stud to the battery it was
.15. and the battery was reading 14.1 volts, then the volts would drop when
ever I dropped the ebrake, or hit someting that would cause a small draw on
the current.
I had done some brain storming and thinking...perhaps the electric fans were
attached to the wrong power source inside the drivers side kick pannel.
I cut the wire that draws power from the drivers side fuse pannel for the
electric fans that powers the relay I installed and my issue was solved for
the most part. It would stay steady at 14.3 Volts to 14 volts no matter
what I did. After I cut the wire, the voltage from the alternator to the
positive terminal was 0.05 volts with the head lights on.
The car ran fine for about 5 min then I was messing around and put more load
on the car, etc. The voltage would drop them come back on again. Eventually
it came to the point where it dropped the voltage down to 12.8 and I shut
the car off.
I took the newley replaced exide battery in to test it. After being
installed and running in the car for about 10 minutes earlier in the week,
it failed the load test again. (I purchased the Optima Battery last night).
Still an ongoing saga, but I am making head way when ever I have time.
Soon the car will be parked for the winter when I will start the proceedure
to install the new ported and polished head with a 5 angle valve job and 1mm
oversized valves.
If my issue is not resolved by the time I dissasemble the top half of the
motor I will go back and look more closely at all the connections and maybe
just purchase a brand new alternator from toyota or take my other one in to
be rebuilt for higher amperage by a shop that is reputable. I am getting
tired of replacing these partsource jobber/ remanufactured alternators.
Mike
