[Supras] Anyone have any issues with the Exide Sub

Yeah, I really don't think that's right, Mike.  To me this still smacks of alternator.  
To be more accurate, voltage regulator.

There is a limit to what the alternator can do at idle.  There's a reason why the car 
stereo competitors pay through the nose for an alternator that can deliver the amps at 
idle/low RPM, and it's not all lipstick.  It's actually hard to do.

However, as I've said, I doubt that your fans draw what my stereo does, and I can 
maintain 14V at idle.  Yes, my alternator isn't exactly stock, but the old one could do 
that too, provided that I kept the volume below about 2/3 full.  That's where the draw 
would be more than what would pop your fan's fuse.
