It sounds like the alternator isn't charging at lower rpm's as it should.
Rockey 91T - now nice and shiny :)

Thanks for the replies folks. I finally got around to installing my new
(warranty replacement) Exide battery today. Upon starting up the car the
voltage was 14.2. After running a few minuted, it then dropped down to 12.0
Volts. Upon bringing up the rpm back up to 3000 at idle, the voltage then
jumped back up to 14.0. I let the car run a few more min and the voltage
was at 11.8.
I dedided to take it out for a rip on the highway and to pick up a digital
volt meter. As suspected, the higher the rpm, the higher the volts were
reading, untill it leveled off at 13.2 volts at 100 km/hr. When I came to a
stop, the battery was reading 11.5 volts.
After I purchased the digital volt meter, I was having difficulty obtaining
a reading from the battery. It seems that on some spots on the post, I
would get a reading of 3 volts, I move the connectors over a few more
millimeters and it reads, 10, then 12. I was taking the reading from the
top of the posts.
I replaced my positive connection, and cleaned up the negative terminal. Ran
the car, same issue.I checked the connections for the negative and
everything seemed fine and clean.
I am starting to think that the Exide sub zero batteries are just crap. I
can not think of any reason why it should die off that quickly.
I will purchase a new and higher end battery with in a few days. If I kill
it with in a few short hours then I know that I will replace my negative
connectors on the car to eliminate any sort of wiring issue.
Mike
