Hello list,
I am at a loss here.
This summer I have replaced my alternator 3 times and replaced my battery 3 times.
It looks like the cause for the alternators was a poor battery.
As the title mentions I am using a Exide Sub Zero 78DT Battery purchased from part source.
The only new electrical item I installed this year was my Flex-i-lite Dual electric fans. These are wired directly into the ignition.
I get about a few hours out of the battery before it starts to show that my volts gauge on my SAFCII is reading to 13, then 12.6 , keeps dropping etc. I can go about a week (driving the car very rarely) before the battery reads at 8.5 or 9 Volts. I tested my alternator and it tested good. I tested the battery and tested bad. The partsource agreed to replace it for the third time.
Does anyone have any experience with these batteries and what could potentially causing them to fail? Is it possible that I picked up a crappy run of batteries? Would the flex-i-lite fans be causing premature battery failure?
My next step is to clean/ replace the battery cables.
I am running the same battery in my 97 Avalon XLS with no issues.
Any help is appreciated.
The car is a 1991 Toyota Supra Turbo, 5 Speed with an Electric sunroof.
Mike
