Good god, evertime I read this mailing list it's as if I've been teleported back to 1998.

BTW, why in the hell would you want to add length to the screw? IIRC, Reg's screw is shorter than stock giving a bit more for fuel cut.

OK. I'll apologize in advance for sounding like a broken record for
those of us from before the CD age. But again, the worth of a lathe has
again been proven. I made an extension for the stock Lex AFM screw like
the $100 one in about 30 minutes. For anyone having a lathe, the
diameter should be .475", and the length added on to the stock screw
should be about 1-1/8" although that may change in tuning.. I used
tapped 1/4"-20 holes in the stock screw face and a mild steel extension
for this and fastened the two together with a piece of 1/4"-20 threaded
rod stock and high strength Loctite.

Consider that you can get a screw cutting lathe (one which will thread
nuts and bolts without dies) which will also make parts (milling with a
milling attachment) for far less money than we give others to do work
for us. Take a look at lathes, particularly South Bend on ebay. It
does not need to be in perfect condition. Most of us spend a lot more
on our cars than the cost of a really useful tool.
