[Supras] VSV2 purpose

Solenoid valve VSV2 Front, under intake manifold on turbo version 
appears to interrupt the manifold pressure signal to the fuel pressure 
regulator and vent the FPR diaphragm to atmosphere?  .  Presumably this 
is to richen the mixture since the engine is started with the throttle 
closed.  But if so, why also have the cold start injector?

When upgrading to a Walbro pump and 550cc injectors, has anyone had 
experience in removing the solenoid valve?
