OK.  I'll apologize in advance for sounding like a broken record for 
those of us from before the CD age.  But again, the worth of a lathe has 
again been proven.  I made an extension for the stock Lex AFM screw like 
the $100 one in about 30 minutes.  For anyone having a lathe, the 
diameter should be .475", and the length added on to the stock screw 
should be about 1-1/8" although that may change in tuning..  I used 
tapped 1/4"-20 holes in the stock screw face and a mild steel extension 
for this and fastened the two together with a piece of 1/4"-20 threaded 
rod stock and high strength Loctite. 

Consider that you can get a screw cutting lathe (one which will thread 
nuts and bolts without dies) which will also make parts (milling with a 
milling attachment) for far less money than we give others to do work 
for us.  Take a look at lathes, particularly South Bend on ebay.  It 
does not need to be in perfect condition.  Most of us spend a lot more 
on our cars than the cost of a really useful tool.
