[Supras] Want to buy Mark III Targa Q re Flex and Aust vs Import

Anyone who complains about the targa chassis flex in a MK3 is a wuss!! I know the hardcore road racers like hardtops so they don't have to deal with it, plus they wouldn't have the extra weight from the chassis reinforcement. The chassis flex really isn't THAT bad where you'd get sick from driving in the car with the top off. I've never been to Australia, so I have no idea what the road conditions are there. Over bumpy roads, there is a lot of flex, but there are ways to reduce it!

I purchased a set of targa bars, which bolt in where the targa panel would. These help make the car feel as if it were a hardtop, but you get the open-air driving experience of the targa! I know there are quite a few Supra owners in Australia and someone probably knows someone who's good with welding and could make a simple design. Our person here who recently made a few sets was selling them for $120 USD.

Not sure I could help with the other questions. Sorry.

Good luck with the purchase!

Subject: [Supras] Want to buy Mark III Targa Q re Flex and Aust vs Import

Hi Guys,

Great to be a member of the list again. Been off it for many
years since I sold my last baby.

Looking at purchasing a Mark III Supra in Australia.

It is a Japan Import. 1989, 130,000Km on Clock, Targa, Manual, 3ltr
Turbo, Stock apart from a Manual boost controller.

Questions are:

Any issues with parts etc being a import. Or are all parts including
electrical same as the Aust sold Supras.

Had a few people warn of a lot of Flex from being a Targa is this a huge
issue. Person I was talking to was advising they where sick after long
drives due to body flex.

Already looked at the purchasing guide for Mark III so will have a good
look over the car before purchase.

If anyone out there in Australia knows of or has a Mark III Targa Manual
Turbo non import for sale please let me know.

Thank you very much for your assistance. You guys have always been a
great help to Supra Owners.

Kindest Regards

Dan
