[Supras] Windage tray

One time I bought a junkyard 7M and it had a MHG and JE pistons... No
BS! :o)

If the oil pan is tampered with, and the head surface is also not good
then some mechanic, somewhere, screwed someone over on a repair job. If
I had to guess without seeing it, the windage tray might have been
removed to allow for a shady oil pump install, or the engine might
already be a Jap motor with a front sump pickup that's been "modified"
to work instead of installing the right oil pump/pickup. I would take a
close look at some photos of a stock 7M bottom end and make sure the oil
pump & pickup look like stock pieces and aren't bent to hell. The link
below has some photos of the internals of my engine in the "engine" folder.

Generally speaking, if I find "that kind" of repair work inside the
motor, I opt for a used Jap motor + new head gasket + new oil pump.
That ends up being the cheapest reliable option assuming you aren't
looking for a built up motor.

In case you were wondering about the photos... I put a 7M crank into an
early block which normally has a 6M crank. The photos actually show
where I ground the engine block near the oil pump to give the crank
clearance to rotate... But also show the stock oil pump nicely.

It would appear that someone has been there before me, and cut the windage tray/baffles out of the oil pan. Someone went to a great amount of trouble to do it, even having to weld the pan in two spots after ripping holes in the pan. Is there some good reason this was done?
