[Supras] Random technologies cat back exhaust

Bernie, you let them get away with that? I hate when people race a
engine in neutral, I've always heard it's bad to do so with no load.
80mm is the largest name brand shelf model I'm aware of (Dragger, Tanabe
Hyper Medallion) there may have been a larger Apexi unit at one time
though.
I'd recommend the Tanabe as it's <$600, all stainless and fairly light.
Super quiet too with only a light rumble at idle. At local events they
let me run with the stock exhaust group (pre-noon noise restriction) and
I've had a few of the Vette guys saying it sounds good at WOT, similar
to a V8. I haven't seen a CARB compliance with an exhaust but if it's a
cat-back there should be nothing to make it non-legal, other than noise
restrictions that is.

Kirk:

Presently I have an 80 mm HKS LET-T16 cat back which is quiet. NJ
inspectors tried to get it to make too much noise by stepping on the gas
in neutral and racing the engine, but it remained quiet except for some
bassy response just off idle. The pipe is the same size as the Drager
if I'm not mistaken, but it has a straight through resonator and a twin
outlet straight through muffler. I was going to get one as a spare
before HKS discontinues them but at $600 for a non-stainless system the
cost is high.

I just bought a Random technologies 3" downpipe and cat, but did not
inquire about cat back exhausts. Could you give me some idea of how
loud it is, and if it is 50 state legal?

    Thanks.

       BernieK
