Daniel,
There are several alternative paths you could take. I choose to get the most
that I could safely get out of what the Supra already has to offer. My Supra
has an HKS metal, stopper head gasket, a larger intake, exhaust, and more
fuel. I went the Lexus/550cc route, with an upgraded Denso fuel pump. Stock
CT26 (@ 1 bar), with LIPP three inch turbo elbow, mated to a three inch
exhaust system. I also installed aluminum intercooler hard pipe kit from
LIPP. A Cooleeze turbo intake pipe, with an Apexi intake filter and HKS oil
catch can.
This path has maintained reliability, and in one instance improved it with
an HKS metal, stopper head gasket. This beast is controlled by the stock
ECU, putting out 333WHP and putting down 350WTQ through an R154 and an
aluminum drive shaft. Everything else is stock The engine had a ring and
valve job done, new timing belt, stock clutch kit and most of all, a full
motor tune, on the dyno, at a local speed shop.
It might not shut down modified Skylines, but... 13.1 in the 1/4mi on 114
octane race gas, is respectable. Van
