Hi Guys,
So I have finally purchased my MKIII Manual Targa Turbo
(Still got the smile) and ready to make a few mods while I have it
around a good mate who knows more than I ever will about engines.
I am thinking of the following and after thoughts / and traps. Don't
want to spend too much coin but do have a little in the piggy to spend.
The engine is the 7MGTE stock with about 130,000km on the clock.
Timing belt done at 96,000Km
Appears to be in good running order no major amounts of smoke etc.
Little oil weeping around the cam covers towards the back.
Car is in Victoria Australia soo any suggestions of local places that
stock good gear would be great. Already got a few bids on ebay going.
Thinking of doing the following:
Remove Head and Replace Head Gasket but at the same time put in some new
Cams and have the head worked? > Any suggestions>?
Thought about a Turbo refurb/ High FLow of the CT26 but thought I might
as well replace with a T3 / T4?
Did not want to touch the bottom end don't really have the time how much
boost can a stock engine take?
Thinking also going to need a new ECU any suggestions on type and brand?
Will I need to do the injectors, fuel pump etc?
How long does it take average to remove the head?
Maybe a Intercooler Kit?
Essentially I have the car at a mates for a month before I take it
interstate. He works full time as a good mechanic and going to much to
the disgust of his about to be new wife I am going to keep him busy on
the weekend.
I was not happy with the power of the car stock felt nothing like my old
88T but it had a few mods.
Want the car as a weekender not looking at going for a monster but
something to blow away those annoying Skylines that run around here
would be great.
Looking forward to taking the top off and having a supra kind of weekend
J
Thanks Guys
Dan
