Brian:  Thanks for the thought.  All the engine needed were rings and
valves.  It was actually in quite usable condition (excepet for need to
deck the block and surface the head).  In some respects I could not resist
the temptation to keep my foot off the loud pedal.  But everything seems
OK, with the exception that I might have more boost than I thought (to be
posted in about 5 minutes to the group.
