[Supras] Awesome!

I was just checking Bernie, I was thinking you'd need quite a few miles
to seat the rings. We did a similar rebuild (patch job) on my engine and
I did a lot of accel/deccel to help seat the rings (not sure that's the
appropriate term but applying press. and vac. over and over) Also
replaced bearings and did a valve job so I felt like a fair amount of
miles (and couple oil changes) would be necessary, maybe it's not the
case with rings only. I thought you had done a complete rebuild, even
new cars recommend a couple thousand miles before hard use/towing (it's
a shame they're aren't treated that way during test drives and by the
lot lizards)

Brian:
Actually all I really did to the engine internally was light honing,
re-ringing, and lapping the valves. Also made spring shims from washers
to get the installed spring height a small bit less than the stock spec.
I did move the oil pickup back in the pan, but that has nothing to do
with breakin, of course.
From the first time I got the engine running, there was no smoke,
no signs of the rings needing to seat. Piston clearance, if anything,
is greater than stock due to the honing. Also, no codes were set by the
ECU. Presently I have the original Lex screw about halfway in and the
fuel pressure set to just under 40 PSI (reading with the engine off,
since the fuel system is tight and holds pressure I can read it that
way).
As always, any comments would be appreciated. Thanks for the
interest.
