[Supras] (UPDATE) Idle issue after installing lexus AFM.

I'll try removing the honeycomb as i remembering leaving it in. I thought that was why the honeycomb was there for, to streighten out the air flow? I'll try removing it and seeing if that helps. My buddy, who sold me the AFM, told me that he had to go through quite a bit of filters to find which one would work with the Lexus AFM. He was having the same problems I was. He ended up buying a 170 dollar air filter which helped him. Can't remember which filter he went with. I got my AEM for like 50 if i recall correctly. I was using cheap autozone filters for my OEM AFM, which worked fine. But this AFM is touchy.
Thanks again! I'll take off the honeycomb when i get home from work and i'll post results.

Wow..awesome.
But..its not the AFMs fault, the common high flow air filters dont..hmm..how do I say.."straighten" out the airflow if the air around it is turbulent to let ANY AFM get a nice stable solid reading.
Remove the honeycomb in front of the AFM (if you have not already) for a dramatic example of this and how your car idles.
The lexus housing is larger, which slowwwwsss dowwwnnn the airflow compared to a stock AFM body, and this contributes to an uneven non-laminar airflow across the sensor. (which is how the ECU sees "less" air to promote a higher boost fuel cut)
Again, welcome to the world of a thousand shades for grey. Doing it all the right way costs more, but ask anyone..like say Malik..what a rebuild is costing him. Blowing things up at only 350Hp aint go grey area, thats cold hard black & white catching up to ya.

So.. I was goofing around under the hood today. The car had a rough idle like i have been describing. When i closed the hood the idle would drop and rise drop and rise and continue but never dies out. When I open the hood it normals out. Idle still a little rough but it stops rising and dropping. I repeatedly opened and closed the hood for my own amusement for a while then i left it open and sat there scratching my head. I am missing the fan shroud... Could it be that the fan is pulling air away from the filter and causing the tempermental Lexuz AFM to throw off the idle? I was amazed how opening and closing the hood was making such a huge difference.
Which brings me to this... Does someone have a spare fan shround that is in great condition that they would be willing to sell to me for cheap. Or does anyone have the electric fan setup they would be willing to sell?

Remember it has to come form this RX-7. This information was found on the Tech Center of our beloved www.supras.com writen by: Adam Hingten.
"This injector was used in only one OEM application that I know of: the first half of the '87 model year of the Mazda RX-7 Turbo II. This makes this injector a little hard to find. After the first half of the '87 model year, Mazda moved to high impedance 550s for the Turbo II and high impedance 450cc for the NA RX-7."

I might be able to source some rx-7 injectors for you as most of my friends drive them and a couple work on them.
