[Supras] ebay Aluminum Flywheel

     I had to let people know about my experience with the ebay MKIII turbo aluminum flywheel:

     Out of the box it looked ok and it fit on the crank shaft no problem.  It also was as light as advertised about 12lbs.  No problem cranking the engine (teeth on the outer ring are correct).  The stock clutch cover fits no problem.  But when I tried to engage the clutch in any gear, a tapping noise was coming out of the clutch housing and the car barely moved.  I immediately realized something was wrong.  Initially I thought that I might have installed the clutch disk backwards.  But when I dropped the transmission and checked the clutch disk I realized what the problem was:  on this aluminum flywheel they made the inner diameter too small (about 1/4").  The aluminum flywheel was actually hitting parts on the clutch disk that the stock flywheel doesn't (it was hitting the big rivets near the center of the clutch disk).  I took pictures (to attach to my request for return instructions from the vendor) and you can see what I mean:

This item is still being listed for sale.  I don't know if this is an isolated problem with the one I got, but somehow I doubt it (I think its more like a design/manufacture error).  I paid $125 for it + $20 for shipping, and I thought it's worth a try, but now I really wish I had bought the Fidanza instead!
