Oh yeah, FWIW. I just lost a bidding war for a pristine '89 with 87,000 miles - it topped $5500 and I was out.

Mike,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Shove your premium cost under their noses and ask
them how you can be paying so much to insure something so worthless?

Check out my wreck damage at http://www.geocities.com/suprarossa. I didn't have
collision coverage through my insurance company, so had to negotiate with the
trucking company's carrier directly. He tried to low ball me initially, but
patience paid off as I let my claim sit on his desk for 4 months without
contacting him again after I provided proof of true value. When it came time for
him to clear out his claims, he ended up totalling my car for $5700, selling it
back to me for $700, AND letting me keep the title, which means it never shows
up as a salvage

I'm glad I rebuilt her, even though I went thousands over what they paid me. My
only regret is going with the ATK rebuild. Biggest POS engine I've ever seen,
and they won't even speak to me any more.

We have lost another one from our ranks.

So I just got word back from my insurance company. They are totaling my car
due to my recent accident. The light turned red and I stopped, the lady
behind me in the Ford SUV didn't and slammed into the back of me, she has
accepted liability. The damage isn't extreme, but probably enough. My own
insurance company said my 1989 Turbo is only worth $2890. They felt this
was a fair price collected by how much a dealer would buy a similar car for.
I think they are full of it, so I am trying to collect sales data on Supras.
So if you have any details of recent sales I would appreciate if you sent it
on to me. My location is Southern California.

My plan is to part out the car after I get that all the insurance stuff
settled. The car itself is a 1989 Turbo with metallic grey outside and grey
interior, very good condition, and I did the 5-speed swap. Most everything
is in beautiful condition and I have lots of after market parts. Local
buyers preferred of course :). Get your lists ready!

And don't worry; the site will still be up. This means I'll probably have
more time to work on it :).
