The insurance company doesn't want your car.... Most likely it will cost
more to haul the car to the auction than it will sell for.  There are few
salvage yards that want a 15 year old car no matter how nice it is.

Because of this most insurance companies will let you keep the car for
little to no money.  Since the car is more than 5 years old there is no
reason for them to insist on a salvage title.

You will have to play the game but the easiest way to get your money is to
ask them to find you a replacement.  IF they can find a comparable car for
$2800 tell them to buy it and you will settle...

You know they can't. The sky is the limit as to what they will pay; most
people just roll over and accept the first offer.  

You wouldn't believe the amount of people that would show up a my dealership
with a check for a car completely shocked that the insurance check wasn't
enough to buy a replacement.

BTW, they have to give you money for taxes and title transfer fees.  They
usually try to sneak that past the customer.

If the insurance company totals the car and you accept the deal (whatever
that may be), you do not get to keep the car. You can buy it back if you
have a dealer license. Kinda sucks but what can you do...

Use the Kelly Blue book value (showing suggested retail around $4,300 for FL
with 100K & excellent condition))
