Most people who do this mod just cut off the guide pin on the mount. That way you don't have to mess around with drilling any holes.

Hi!
I just finished installing the 98 MKIV engine mounts on my 90 T. The part number for the mounts that I got form Jeff is 12360-46111. The cost is something like $54 each. These mounts are much firmer and cheaper than the MK3's liquid filled (89+ models). The mounts basically fit with no major problems (I have to thank the person on the list that provided the tip about using the 98 mounts and I am sorry I don't recall their name right now). The only modification that was required was to drill a hole with a 9/32" drill bit in the engine brackets. This was necessary because the 98 engine mounts have a guide pin, for the bracket side, which is on the opposite side of the MK3's engine mounts. Additionally, the location of the hole to be drilled is at the edge of the bracket, so you have to position the drill bit such that the center of the circle is about 1/8" from the edge (so its more like a notch at the edge of the bracket). The next tricky thing is its takes
trial and error to actually get the hole location perfect. My measurements were off such that I had to redrill and move the center of the hole towards the front of the car, and then it just fit nicely.
I have to wrap up a couple of other things before I can run the car and give feedback on how it feels compared the MK3 engine mounts.
Regards,
