[Supras] 1 piece driveshafts??

The vibration didn't appreciably change with the one piece. I'm pretty sure my vibration is in the differential as it gets worse with higher speeds and is most noticeable in the "between zone" where I'm neither accelerating nor decelerating. I've been procrastinating in tearing it down for further inspection since my other vehicle is a gas hog....

Did it reduce any of the high speed vibration? I can't
imagine any one piece being smoother than the stocker with a good carrier
bearing and u-joints. If it's close though, half the weight would be
nice.

The
one thing I remember about dealing with JAWS during that issue was their
attitude that it was my fault it wasn't the correct length, even though I
ordered specifically for my 91T 5-spd (original equipment drivetrain) then they
turned around and modified the original unit that I returned which they had told
me would be replaced with a new one that was to have been shipped immediately
upon receipt of the incorrect unit.
I would have been OK with it had they
negotiated that up front instead of lying, delaying and blaming me for the
mistake.
On the plus side I have had no issues with the unit since it was
installed...

IIRC the difference tween auto and 5spd is two inches,
so..they just got the wrong tranny measurement for you..
40 -vs- 42 from
yoke to yoke comes to mind.

I
put in a 1 piece steel JAWS unit last year during the rebuild in hopes of
losing some of the high speed vibration and less hassle to install. I ordered
the 5 speed unit and it showed up a couple of inhes short. Sent the shaft back
with accurate length measurement of my stock 2 piece unit and they spliced a
piece in to make it longer, took about a week to turn it around. If you buy
one make sure you know the desired length....

Does anyone have
experience with the 1 piece driveshafts available for the mk3? I've seen the
'Jaws Gear' shaft and the 'Driveshaft Shop' both offered in Steel and Al. I
had read a while back that a problem with an Al. driveshaft is that it does
not dampen vibration as well as a stock shaft. (I'm guessing this is because
the stocker's rear section is 2 piece with rubber isolation) Can anyone
confirm whether a 1 piece steel shaft dampens any better than an Al. one? I
realize a carbon shaft would dampen better than both but I don't have the
funds to go with that option.
Thanks,
Brian
