Larry, check the basics first...

Check the battery, battery terminals and the battery cables. Have someone
load test the system. Most big boxes do it for free

I had a similar problem and even though I should have known better I was
prepared to pull the starter.

The entire problem was bad battery cable ends and a slowly failing battery.

My problem was just like your description

Bob

Subject: [Supras] MKIII Starting issues

When I turn the key, nothing happens except for a voltage drop. The solinoid

does not click. Starter and solinoid are a year old. I tried bypassing the
keyswitch with 12 volts to the soliniod and no change. I can see the clutch
safety switch is working because the voltage drop does not happen unless the

switch is depressed. I had a tech look at it and it started working again
after he touched the solinoid switch with a probe. He suggested it might be
an issue with the alarm?? or the key switch. How does the alarm work with
the start cut? What about the relay for the starter, is that known to have
issues?
Thanks for your response.

Larry B
