First. let me state that I do not want to incite a flame war. There are some very well respected participants in this group who maintain that position of the 7M stock pickup is adequate under strong acceleration. However, from measurements taken and from simple physics and trigonometry I do not agree that the stock location is best from a standpoint of at least transiient oil starvation under hard acelleration Again will all due respect, it appears to me that a further rearward oil pickup location would be better under hard acceleration.
That having been said, iit would appear to be a straightforward matter to cut the pickup pipe and weld or braze in a section to lengthen it by about 3 inches to get it further to the rear of the pan. The existing pickup support could be tied to a piece of 3/16" steel sheet stock retained under the right 6th main bearing bolt, in the same manner as now supported to the block. Of courxe, a new pickup hole would need to be cut in the oil pan baffle to accomodate the rearward relocatiion of the pickup.
Just curious if anyone has any comments.
