what part about idle control specifically are you refering to?
the unit has full fuel and spark control, each tunable with a 12x12 chart thats interpolated down to pretty high detail. unit can utilize a wide band O2 sensor to run the car at closed loop mode all the time. recently new code was added that allowed a car to run at near perfect air/fuel ratio with only about a 0.1 variance no matter the load/RPM/throttle variance (tester was autocrossing on a dirt track at the time). its still being tuned for faster response.
the ECU itself cannot datalog, but if you run it attached to your tuning laptop, the laptop can record the data for later playback. the system has a pretty decent autotune setup but will not beat true manual tuning. you start with your default settings, then autotune gets you pretty close to end result and then its manually tuning the fine details.
there is a daughterboard addon for the MS that adds in a whole slew of extras such as boost controller solenoid, nitrous solenoid, 3 stage shift lights (low, mid, hi), 2nd O2 sensor (datalog only), plus other features.-Sean

Yeah no more wasted spark - COP though mainly for ashetics.
I dont have much info on any of the megasquirt stuff so would also like to hear about the idle control and if theres any closed loop/open loop wideband tracking/autotune features, or solinoid control for boost control

Stock CPS has been in there. thats what mine was modeled after except i was using a distributor (same sensor wheels). Just a simple 12+2 config that way when i switched from distributor to coil pack system, add a wire and change a simple setting, DONE (minus actually swapping over the car parts) 6 igniter wires, you looking for direct COP style where yer not running wasted spark anymore? -Sean
