Craig:
Thanks for the information. Differences between digital cameras being
what they are, it may be that the '91 gray is indeed different from the
shade used in '90. I did locate a gray dash, and it will need to suffice.
If worst comes to worst, there are solvent based vinyl aerosols which are
obtainable, but I'm not going to get upset about a slight mismatch in shade.
The '90 has a maroon exterior, if it makes any difference regarding shades
of interior gray.
I guess the most work will be in installing parts I have been
accumulating for the '90 on the '91. First will be a metal HG after lapping
the block deck in the car, using the head already prepared for a JDM rebuild
I was going to install in the '90. I also have a lightweight flywheel, new
clutch, Lexus AFM, FPR, Walbro pump. Still need to get 550cc injectors.
The HKS exhaust will be carried over from the '90. One of the two turbos on
the bench here will be sent out for 57 trim, and will be installed when
changing heads. At some point intercooler hard pipes will be installed as
well. I have '98 MkIV mounts here which are quite rigid. Until New Jersey
discontinues use of chassis dynos for emissions testing, I'll need to retain
the 2-1/2" elbow and both cats.
For Walbro pump installation, I'm thinking of cutting out part of the
trunk floor with a pneumatic nibbler and making up a cover plate to get to
the pump quickly if ever needed again.
As always, any further information or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

> Dollars to donuts they are not the same gray... You asked previously
about differences between 90-91. Your 91 got the following:
> 1) 6.5" door speakers
> 2) Color matched side mouldings
> 3) Slightly changed gauge faces
> 4) 5-spoke wheels replaced the sawblades

> There may be more I'm not remembering now, but most significantly in this
discussion there were a few color additions/changes. Chances are the '91
got Shadow Gray interior, and until you see it in person you probably
haven't perceived the difference between that and the current Medium Gray
interior you have now in your '90. As such, swapping dashes may not be a
viable option for you.

(short of NOS from the dealer for a pretty penny).

but a total of 8 hours to exchange the dash between the two cars sounds
reasonable. Fortunately, both are gray. If anyone has a gray dash in good
condtion please let me know. Thanks.

two hours). My project car's dash was/is cracked , about an inch wide, in
the middle from HOT Az sun over many years. The donor car dash was in
excellent shape. Garaged most of the time I'm guessing!
