Subject: 1991 supra ebay wiin; '90 for sale

  Hi list:

Just won a 1991 turbo on ebay with 103K miles. It's been 18 months since my '90 blew the HG, and time has not permitted me to get the JDM rebuild together and into the car. The JDM rebuild decision was probably overkill, as the '90 has always been run with synthetic oil, and has no rod knocks or other problems aside from the BHG. I am the second owner of the car, bought in 1992 with about 38K miles. Mileage now is just under 156K. The car will run, but pushes water out of the radiator due to the BHG. It always ran fine before the BHG. I'll be taking photos soon and posting them for sale here and on ebay.

So, my plans are to install an MHG in the '91 within 6 months and sell the '90 as-is. The '91 will then be built up with 550cc injectors, a 57 trim turbo, and a Lexus AFM.

The '90 is maroon, in generally good condition except for the BHG. It is a 5 speed, stock except for piping the turbo waste gate actuator to the 3000 pipe to include the intercooler pressure drop in the boost limit. I have and HKS LET-16 cat-back exhaust on the '90 but that will be transferred to the '91. I can supply a stock or Monza exhaust for the '90. A transmission mainshaft bearing was replaced at 58K miles under warranty. A new clutch was installed at that time, although not necessary.

Any information about '90 to '91 differences would be appreciated. I did a fiche parts list check on the engine wiring harness, and found that part numbers for each are different. Also, the '91 supposedly includes traction control, which I believe to be untrue.

Please drop me a note if interested in the '90 or if you know of any '90 to '91 differences. Thanks.

          BernieK
