Well, ok since you ask. Others have questions too so I will try to hit all
the birds with one stone.
The good old maftpro is the newer alternative to the lexus afm and basically
replaces the safc and that other abc thing all in one unit.
The unit allows you to feed the ecu information to trick it into running
leaner/richer etc so you can properly tune your vehicle with different or
stock size injectors, also eliminates the annoying fuel cut and gets rid of
the afm restricition. The unit can also act as a boost controller if you get
a gm style solenoid. It is the newer alternative to the lexus afm.
This doesnt come with a maf sensor, I got the maftpro unit to replace the
afm altogether to allow running in speed density mode. Basically you need an
(iat)inlet air temp sensor mounted up next to your throttle body in the 3000
pipe area and a gm style 3 bar map sensor to get the vacuum signal. I made
up an adapter for less than 20 bucks to replace my accordian inlet hose with
3"pipe and mounted an large air filter. If you dont like speed density it
has the ability to use your stock afm as a signal and/or it has the ability
to use some gm type afms. Its got a supra specific harness that you splice
into your stock wiring. Im pretty slow at doing things but I think I had it
installed with soldered wires in less than a couple of hours. When initially
installing I had it running real good and it needed no tuning. I monitored
afms and they were a steady 11.5 on full boost up to 10 psi. I never got to
turn it up more than that but people have documented 500hp with the maftpro
so its got to be good for more than that.
I have the gm type boost control solenoid brand new never used and Im not
sure if I will be keeping that, if not it will go for a good deal also.
I believe I will be using the map sensor and the iat sensor for my
megasquirt.
I can send pics to people with serious inquiries, really there isnt much too
show, the thing is just about brand new, not damaged.
You can find more info at fullthrottletech.com which has a supraspecific
forum, also mkiiitech.com
thanks for the replies.
