I wouldn't let all of the oil run into the cylinders for two reasons...
You have some crud in the spark plug well and it could damage the cylinder
walls or worse.
Beyond that and this maybe a long shot but how big is the combustion
chamber? If enough oil gets into it the engine could hydro lock.
The head could be re-torque with the covers off and Sears sells a torque
wrench for less than $80.00. I think you need a 12 pt 12 mm socket to do
this but the size is from memory... not what it used to be.
As to should you and what specs to use someone else has to chime in, like I
said my memory isn't what is used to be

Subject: [Supras] So,now that I'm getting through again (Was...Changing
plugs 7M-GE)
I managed to to get the air inlet off without removing the entire
intake, like the Haynes manual suggested. NOW, I removed plug #1. Before
I did, I wanted to check for oil in the 'valley' like some have
suggested.
Yup...about 1/2" of oil, and I pulled the socket out before removing the
plug, and it was RUNNING off the socket! I did remove #1, but let the
oil drain into the cylinder. (I also figured out why the TSRM and the
Haynes said "Drain the coolant". I didn't but it wasn't a problem.)
Do I *NEED* to remove the oil, or can I just let it run into the
cylinders? I am also going to replace the Valve Cover Gaskets (I am
assuming this is the reason for the oil in the first place, and at least
the one on the passenger's side is leaking badly). Anything I need to
know?
I'm no genius, but I used to work on Space Suits (EMUs, in the
'business') so I'm not a dummy, but I have never checked valves before,
and I want to have a look at things while I have the intake off. The
other question was, is there a way to check head bolt torque with the
valve covers off?
Any assistance is appreciated! Thanks!
