There is a whole mess of connections that make the power windows work.  I 
had the exact problem as you with a MK3: passenger's window wouldn't roll 
up.  Motor was fine.

The master switch is part of that.  You'll NEED a factory electrical service 
manual.  In my case, it turned out to be the kick panel on the passenger's 
side.  With the book, you can trace the current from the battery to the 
window motor.  If done correctly, you will find the open circuit point.
