[Supras] MkIII: Wet weather driving performance

I was an active SOGI member for a few years, attended many meets, and even hosted one when I lived in Davis. However, both of my Supras are gone. My post is slightly off topic, but please indulge me.

I'm building a hybrid 240Z for autocross and wet weather driving on dangerous mountain roads. My idea is to build a "mini-Supra" using MkIII subframes (and everything attached) and use a 2JZ-GE VVTi from a Lexus IS300. Effectively, it will become the donor car with a 240Z body shell welded on top. This is not a whim, I've been planning this for ten years, and there are many examples of 240Z built in this way. It will effectively be a smog exempt Supra weighing around 2500lbs. But, I'm still trying to decide if I want to make it a Supra or use a different kind of donor.

How good are Supra MkIII's compared to other sports cars for wet and dangerous twisty mountain roads? (When I had my two Supras, I lived in a dry valley)

What can be done to make a MkIII perform best in the rain, besides tire selection?

Would effectively lightening a MkIII by 1000 lbs improve it's wet weather handling, or make it worse?

Would a MkIII be a good choice as the donor for my project?
