Joe:
Yes, I did get the Setrab pix. One of these days I intend to
upgrade the oil cooler, but there is so much to finish now that I have
time off until January 2nd. Got the hard pipes done with 2-1/4" steel
tubing run through the stock inner fender opening, but I did need to add
an additional elbow where the flattened offset section of the plastic
was. Had to stop short of installing the Tredstone intercooler though,
not accustomed to doing this kind of work anymore day after day as a
senior. My wife complains about the odor of Ben-Gay, but then again she
thinks I'm nuts for working on cars instead of wanting to visit family.
You should see the NAPA clamps. Yes, they are worm type, but you
have never seen anything like them. I've used T-bar types before,
especially at the turbo outlet. The NAPA clamps have Belleville
washers, though, so they are self-tightening. Have T-bars here too.
I'm going to wind up with a nightmare of a plumbing job with NAPA 2-1/2"
radiator hose off the intercooler down to 2-1/4" for connections
elsewhere. I've refined the "soldered wire bead" hose holding technique
pretty well to the point where I'm 99% sure that I will not have a hose
blow off. The NAPA radiator hose looks a bit skimpy but it must be
built to withstand 15 PSI hot. I'll use those pieces with 90 degree
bends to come down off the IC connections and then switch down to
2-1/4". No one seems to have 2-1/2" X 2-1/4" reducing elbows in stock.
I could pay my local speed shop $60 EACH for them overnight but I could
also burn $100 bills.
The treadstone has angle aluminum at the ends. At least the oil
cooler end is almost a bolt-up with a little drilling. I need to make
an extension plate for the hose end.
Thanks for the pix. Take care and have a good new year.
