[Supras] MR2 100amp Alternator in 92T --- NOT a drop-in

Steve,
Genius! You are 100% correct about making that line shorter. Check this
pic out with the alternator completely removed:
http://www.hurstwood.com/alt/IMG_2171a.JPG The hose is outlined in red.
See how far that hose extends out to the right? It's that rightmost area
where I point to it with the blue arrow --- that's the part that covers up
the damn alternator receptacle in the back. PLENTY of room to shorten that
hose and bring it in closer to the engine. Great advice, truly.
However... now we have one final problem, which somehow I didn't notice
yesterday. Examine these two pics:
http://www.hurstwood.com/alt/IMG_2175a.JPG --- stock 80A alternator
http://www.hurstwood.com/alt/IMG_2176a.JPG --- MR2 Turbo 100A alternator
Note the # of ribs --- there are 5 indented grooves in the stock 80A alt,
but only 4 indented grooves in the MR2 alt :-( WTF? Nothing I'd read
in searching supraforums indicated anything about incompatible
ribbing/groove counts --- only pulley diameter and plug/receptacle
locations.
I'm not sure there's a way around this. I didn't even realise it yesterday
when i had the belt on the MR2 alt when it was installed --- but I guess the
belt was just sitting on top of the grooves, not fitting down into them.
But the belt sure did feel tight and solid when i tightened it. Is this a
dealbreaker? The MR2 part# was 14901, and my stocker Toyo part# was
27060-42030.
Ideas greatly welcomed.... it's temperate (70F or so) and dry right now in
Austin so riding the motorcycle everywhere isn't a huge issue, but it won't
be that way for long.....
